
Park University will present the 13th annual Dr. Jerzy Hauptmann Distinguished Guest Lecture on Thursday, May 19 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the McCoy Meetin' House at Park University in Parkville, Mo.
The featured speaker, Michael E. O'Hanlon, Ph.D., will present on "The Axis of Evil and Doctrine of Preemption Three Years On." The lecture is free and open to the public.
O'Hanlon is a senior fellow in Foreign Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution, where he specializes in U.S. defense strategy and budgeting, homeland security, and American foreign policy. He focuses on issues concerning the military and the use of military force, especially with regards to the Middle East, Central and South Asia, East Asia and Africa. He is a visiting lecturer at Princeton University and a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies and the Council on Foreign Relations.
Prior to beginning his work at Brookings in 1994, O'Hanlon was an analyst at the Congressional Budget Office, and worked previously at the Institute for Defense Analyses. He holds a bachelor's and master's degrees in physical sciences, and doctorate degree in public and international affairs from Princeton. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Congo/Kinshasa (the former Zaire) from 1982-1984, where he taught college and high school physics in French.
