
On Wednesday, April 9, Park University will celebrate and honor the life and legacy of one of the most revered figures in its 133-year history. Dr. Jerzy Hauptmann, professor emeritus of political science and public administration, and founder of the School for Public Affairs, who passed away on January 29.
I invite you to attend any or all of the following April 9 events:
- A 3 p.m. memorial service in the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel has been scheduled for alumni, faculty, staff and friends to pay tribute and to commemorate Dr. Hauptmann's lasting impact on their lives and the University.
- A reception in the McCoy Meetin' House from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Alumni, friends and colleagues are invited to remember and reconnect.
- At 7 p.m., the Dr. Jerzy Hauptmann Distinguished Guest Lecture will feature speaker Lawrence J. Korb, senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and a senior advisor to the Center for Defense Information.
This annual lecture, now in its 16th year, epitomizes the vision Dr. Hauptmann championed to promote global academic interconnectivity. The lecture will be hosted in the Jenkin and Barbara David Theatre in Alumni Hall. Limited seating is available.
