University committee seeks mentors for international students

Make a difference and experience a new culture by becoming a mentor to a Park University international student. The Internationalization and Multicultural Education Committee invites faculty and staff to become a mentor in the Global Match mentoring program for international students.

Incoming international students are paired with a faculty or staff member to develop a relationship as a campus resource and as a friend. Mentors are obligated to a minimum on-campus time commitment of five hours per semester to meet with your student twice a month and to attend a welcome event and end-of-the-semester event.

jmsanders@park.edu or (816) 584-6732, or Kimberly Connelly, assistant director of International Student Services, at kimberly.connelly@park.edu or (816) 584-6834.

Finish line in sight for completion of Copley Quad

With a little more than seven weeks remaining before the residence halls on the Parkville Campus open for occupancy, construction on the Copley Quad student housing project has "entered the finish phase," according to Paul Gault, special assistant for administration and Park University's owner representative for the project.

Over the past couple of weeks, the installation of the Quad's elevator was completed. In addition, insulation installation is complete throughout the buildings, while drywall, paint, frame and mason work continues.

With some recent breaks in the wet weather, a considerable amount of dirt and mud was hauled off, providing a drier job site and making a major difference in the productivity and morale of the construction crews. In addition, work on the Intramural and Recreational Fieldhouse (also known as Labor Hall) has begun.

More information about the project, as well as a photo timeline of the construction progress can be viewed at
www.park.edu/copleyquad.
