With the grant, Jon Young will spend two weeks in July at the Kennedy Center in a master class with renowned scenic designer Ming Cho Lee, who holds the Donald Oenslager chair in design and is co-chair of the design department at the Yale School of Drama. The 2008 master class is set to begin July 20.

"I am shocked and surprised as well as honored to receive this grant," said Young, who is the program coordinator for the Department of Theatre at Park. "I am extremely excited about the opportunity to work with Mr. Lee."

The master class pairs designers and directors on a specific script and the group conceptualizes a production during the two weeks, Young explained. The chosen designers and directors are made up of both students and faculty participants.
