Park University Accepting Applications for Summer Piano Academy in Italy

The Park University International Center for Music is now accepting applications for an intensive Summer Piano Academy on July 1-10 at the International Piano Academy Lake Como in Italy.

During the intensive 10-day academy, each student will receive eight private lessons and performance opportunities with world-renowned pianists Stanislav Ioudenitch and William Naboré.

To apply, send one letter of recommendation with a tape or CD of two piano pieces to: The International Center for Music Summer Piano Academy, C/O Park University, 8700 NW River Park Drive, Parkville, MO 64152.

Applications and tapes are due by May 1.

Tuition, fees and room is $1,800 (meals and transportation not included). A deposit of $500 is due by May 15. The remaining balance is due by June 10. (No refunds will be granted after June 15)

About the International Piano Academy Lake Como

The International Piano Academy Lake Como Academy is housed in a beautiful 17th century palazzo overlooking the famous lake. Away from the pressures of the outside world, students are able to learn and work in a relaxed, stimulating and contemplative environment. Here they receive inspiration, opportunities and guidance in every aspect of concert and artistic life, including chamber music, accompaniment, physiology (the treatment/prevention of occupational injuries) and piano technique.

About Stanislav Ioudenitch

Stanislav Ioudenitch is an associate professor of music at Park University and the University's artistic director for the International Center for Music and the Youth Conservatory for Music.

In 2001, he was awarded the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Gold Medal at the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and is widely acclaimed as one of the world's most brilliant and accomplished young virtuoso performers. He exhibits a strong individuality and musical conviction that has led the way to the top prizes at the Busoni, Kapell and Maria Callas Competitions, and the Steven De Groote Memorial Award for Best Performance of Chamber Music for the Cliburn semifinal round collaboration with the renowned Takacs Quartet. He also took first prize at both the 1998 Palm Beach Invitational and the 2000 New Orleans International Piano Competitions.

About William Naboré

For more than 20 years, in collaboration with the City of Geneva, Naboré has performed the complete chamber works of Brahms, Schumann, Dvorak, Beethoven and Schubert, plus the essential works of the French and Russian repertoire, with ensembles including the Amadeus, the Talich, the Gabrieli and the Brindisi Quartets. He was also active as a member of the Studio de Musique Contemporaine where he performed European premieres of several important American works. In 1988 he founded the Amadeus Festival on the outskirts of Geneva.

Naboré has received critical recognition on the international concert circuit as Cultural Ambassador for the United States, and has appeared as soloist with the Orchestra di Santa Cecilia, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. His distinguished discography is broad and
eclectic.

An outstanding teacher of his instrument, Naboré; has formed some of the finest and most finished artists of the young generation. In 1993 he became founding director of the International Piano Foundation "Theo Lieven", and with Martha Argerich created the International Piano Academy Lake Como in 2002.
