Music Department Presents Graduate Students' Piano RecitalBy Summer A. Evans - February 27, 2005 - 1:48 pmEmail this article | Printer friendly page | Media Inquiries | Share on Facebook | Share on Twitter The Park University Music Department presents the Graduate Students' Piano recital on Wednesday, Mar. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel. Admission is free. Currently studying under the guidance of Van Cliburn Gold Medalist and Associate Professor for Music Stanislav Ioudenitch, graduate students Graciella Kowalczyk, Gulrukh Shakirova and Tatiana Larionova will perform works by F. Chopin, J. Bach, C. Debussy and R. Schumann. Shakirova will perform Partita in C Minor BWV 826 by J. Bach and L'Islse Joyeuse (Island of Joy) by C. Debussy. Kowalczyk will perform Op.48, no.1 and 3 Etudes: Op. 10, no.8; Op.25, no.5; Op. 25, no.1 by F. Chopin. Larionova will perform Kreisleriana Op.16 by R. Schumann. French-born, Polish-raised pianist, Graciella Kowalczyk previously studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Chopin School of Music in Warsaw and Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Kowalczyk has appeared in concerts and recitals as a soloist in more than 15 countries and three continents, including the National Philharmonic in Warsau, Poland; Sergei Rachmaninov Concert Hall in Moscow, Russia; Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria; Bellini Conservatory in Palermo, Italy; Ed Landreth Auditorium in Fort Worth, Texas, and Kölner Philharmonic in Köln, Germany. Uzbek pianist Gulrukh Shakirova graduated with honors from Uspensky Special Music School in Tashkent. She continued her education at The State Conservatory of Uzbekistan where she graduated with bachelor's degree in piano performance with honors. In addition to being the recipient of several prizes and diplomas in composition at the competitions for creative youth of Uzbekistan, Shakirova received the President State scholarship in Uzbekistan in the field "Culture and art" in 2002. Tatiana Larionova is a graduate of the Central Music School in Moscow and later attended the Moscow State Conservatory. Larionova participated in the International Piano Festivals, including "Bodensee-Festival" (Germany) and the International European Piano Forum (Berlin, 2001). She has performed concerts in Russia, Byelorussia, Germany, Poland and Italy. In 2001, Tatiana performed Mozart Piano Concerto # 23 in the Bolshoi Hall of the Moscow Conservatory with the orchestra of the conservatory. |
