Park University announces its new PirateNet web portal, https://piratenet.park.edu, that will ultimately replace the OPEN system.

PirateNet is a personalized webpage that students and faculty members can customize to meet their information needs. This portal is a new web service that is designed to be a "one-stop" place for Park faculty and students to access important information on the web. It also serves as a gateway to many Online resources and communication tools at Park University.

Beginning February 1, 2005, PirateNet will be available for Parkville and Kansas City Area faculty and students. This system will eventually be implemented into all Campus Centers nationwide. During the spring semester, students and faculty at all Campus Centers will be welcome to login and try the PirateNet portal with the understanding that some features may not be functional.

To log on to PirateNet, faculty and students must use their OPEN user ID and password.

PirateNet features include:

- Enroll in classes, check grades, and more
- Use PirateMail, with only a first time login required
- Access to Online course materials
- Personal calendar tool for maintaining class schedules and appointments
- Add personal links to the webpage using the "bookmarks" tool
- Communicate with other students and club members using the "groups" tool

The Park University PirateNet portal is powered by Jenzabar's Internet Campus Solution product known as JICS. It runs on a Windows web server and ties into Park's Jenzabar CX database. More technical information is available at www.jenzabar.com/products/portal.html.
