Park University has announced the appointment of Brad A. Kleindl, Ph.D., as the dean of the Park School of Business. Kleindl began his duties at Park on Jan. 3.

Kleindl joins Park after having served as the dean of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business Administration at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. He also served as interim vice president of academic affairs during the 2009-10 academic year. In addition to his duties as dean, Kleindl was a professor of marketing. Prior to becoming dean, Kleindl had served as associate professor and assistant dean from 1993 to 2003. He also served a stint as director of MSSU’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management from 1986-91.

As dean of the Plaster School of Business Administration, Kleindl implemented school-wide IDEA Center-based class assessments, established an alumni database and magazine for the school, developed a student adventure leadership program and supervised the development of an investment center for finance program, as well as freshman career orientation seminars.

At Park University, Kleindl will head the University's largest school, which offers academic degree programs at 40 campus centers across the country and online. As dean, he will seek to move the
Park School of Business from accreditation candidate status to full accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

"We are delighted to have Dr. Kleindl join an excellent group of deans at Park University," said Thimios Zaharopoulos, Ph.D., interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. "His experience as a business dean and with business school accreditation will be invaluable."

Previous professional work experiences for Kleindl include teaching marking courses at Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, Mo., and Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. He has also taught business courses at Marshalltown Community College and Buena Vista College in Iowa, and Highland Community College in Illinois.

Kleindl has received two Fulbright Specialist Program awards. He served as a senior specialist in 2007 at the Management Center Innsbruck, Austria, and in 2003 at the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa, lecturing on e-commerce and international business. In addition, he has authored or co-authored six books and more than 60 articles and conference papers.

Kleindl earned his Ph.D. in marketing from Oklahoma State University in 1996. He received both his Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, in 1982 and 1981, respectively.
