Sanders, Williams make presentations at biology educators conferenceBy - October 21, 2009 - 8:45 amEmail this article | Printer friendly page Carol Sanders, Ph.D., and Don Williams, Ed.D., associate professors of biology, made presentations at the Association of College and University Biology Educators annual meeting in Kansas City, Mo., Oct. 9-10. Sanders and Williams hosted a roundtable discussion on "The Trials, Tribulations and Successes of Undergraduate Research -- An Evolving Program Plan." In this discussion, Sanders and Williams provided an outline of the scope and sequence of Park's Biology Research Capstone program and discussed its successes and pitfalls. The duo also presented a poster on "Stream Research in a Non-Major Environmental Biology Course." The presentation showed how the Missouri Department Natural Resources Stream Team activities are used for laboratory investigations as an attempt to engage students in real-world science. In addition, Williams presented a teaching strategy for introductory anatomy and physiology instructors on "A Holistic Approach to the Teaching of Introductory Human Anatomy and Physiology." The session demonstrated constructive and holistic approaches to developing a fluid compartment model of body function. |
