Master Plan Report Summary - May 2006Executive Summary
The Master Plan was contemplated by and constitutes an integral part of Explorations & Transformations 2012: Access to Excellence. However, the impetus for the Plan stems from the need to site new student housing and academic buildings and to prepare for the significant enrollment growth anticipated during the next ten years. The President's Enrollment Management Task Force has projected a peak Campus student load of 1950 students by the year 2012, the horizon year for this Master Plan. Of those, 500 students will live on Campus. This Master Plan provides the framework to accommodate this growth. Aesthetic strategies have been balanced with financial considerations, and plans for phased implementation. This Master Plan is an integral part of Explorations and Transformations 2012: Access to Excellence, the strategic plan initially approved by the Board of Trustees on October 10, 2003, and updated annually, which serves as Park University's visioning document. Although the Plan has been memorialized in this document, it has been shaped as a malleable plan to allow it to be adjusted to deal with inevitable changes in educational programs, the student body, faculty, staff, and administration. The Master Plan describes the planned transformation of the Parkville Campus in a logical sequence of eight development phases for proposed construction or renovation.
